My Experience with The Feldenkrais Method®
I was introduced to the Feldenkrais Method® while on a full-merit scholarship to Cornish College of the Arts in Dance. Towards the end of my Freshman year, I sustained severe injuries relating to how I moved and danced. Over a year and a half after being crippled on crutches, I had tried various therapies and healing methods with minimal or temporary results.
In the Feldenkrais Method® class at Cornish, I completed 12 Awareness Through Movement® lessons and one privately taught Functional Integration® lesson. I fully-recovered from my injuries and returned to dance classes and performance rehearsals, dancing pain-free to my absolute ability! The profound effect the Feldenkrais Method® had on my life inspired me to continue my education. After graduating from Cornish College of the Arts holding a BFA in Dance with minor(s) in Kinesiology and Musical Theater, I attended four years of Feldenkrais® training to become a professional practitioner.
As an individual who went from barely being able to move to the peak of the movement spectrum, I relate to a broad range of movement experiences. In the second year of my four years of Feldenkrais® training, I reinvented my movement capabilities by teaching myself Contortionism. I performed as a professional Dance Contortionist for two years while finishing my Feldenkrais® training. In 2006, I graduated from the Seattle Eastside Feldenkrais® Training as a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner. Since then, I continued to build my Feldenkrais® practice and perform my Dance Contortion acts throughout the US until I retired from performing in 2015 to focus on my Feldenkrais® practice full time.
Currently, I work part time at a physical therapy practice and part time in my private practice. Various doctors and surgeons have referred patients with difficult movement and functionality challenges directly to me and I was able to help rehabilitate them. I have also nearly completely ameliorated at least one case of cerebral palsy, helping the student retire all his assistive walking aids and begin to move freely under his own power. I have over 30 years of professional movement experience and I am confident that I can assist you with any movement issues, pain, or challenges that you may face. I invite you to discover what your movement dreams are and to explore the possibilities you have held within, unrealized.
